Dear Alumni: The Board of Directors is proud to announce that it will be holding an election to fill vacancies on the Board. The following positions are currently available:
1. President;
2. Program Director;
3. Recruiting Director;
4. Event Director;
5. Marketing Director; and
6. Sponsorship Director.
Based on the recommendation of the Steering Committee, this will be a three week process. The deadline for submision of applications is October 31, 2018 at 11:59 pm. Following that time, the Nominating Committee will take one week to conclude its processes. Then voting will be open for one week, with an anticipated completion date of November 14, 2018. Winners will be announced by the Nominating Committee. The voting process and all aspects of the election will be accomplished by the independent Nominating Committee uner the management and direction of the Chairperson of that committee. Leadership Manhattan Beach uses a “working board” format meaning that although each board member has a specific area of responsibility/oversight, all board members will be required to perform the general work of the board as directed by the President and/or the Board in general. Board meetings occur 6:00 to 8:30 pm on the first Thursday of the month, August through June. The Board has authorized Robert Espinosa to run for the Office of President without completing a full term on the Board and that this action was supported by the Steering Committee. Further, based on recommendations of the Steering Committee, the Board will be considering at the November Board of Directors Meeting the imposition of a two year term limit with a mandatory break of two years before being eligible to hold office again.
