Class of 2013 Project:
One Sip Closer to a Plastic-Free MB: Drink Responsibly
Welcome to the Leadership Manhattan Beach Class of 2013 website.
One Sip Closer to a Plastic-Free Manhattan Beach: Drink Responsibly
LMB Class of 2013 has chosen a “splashy” environmentally-conscious project aimed at reducing disposable plastic bottle waste and inspiring the consumption of healthy tap water. The team will replace several highly-trafficked city water fountains with new state-of-the-art “H2.o Stations” providing a modern dispensing source for the city’s clean, fresh water.
These next-generation water stations will be multi-dispensary units that include both a bottle filler and traditional drinking spout. In high pet traffic areas, units will boast a third pet fountain for the community’s four-legged family members. These H2.o Stations – Refill, Reduce, Refresh, embrace the city’s ongoing eco-mission as well as the needs of our active and sports-oriented community. The project educates residents on both the potential health risks and the negative environmental impact caused by each grab and toss of a single-use bottle.
Our H2.o Stations will replace existing fountains, which will be donated across Los Angeles to schools who need water fountains.
Our goal is to supply the city with five new H2.o Stations in key locations.
